Dancing On The Railroad Tracks

She was born with a strange beat in her heart
The doctor said “there’s nothing that we can do”.
She went home, wrapped in her mother’s arms,
To a home in the woods that was down by the railroad tracks.

(She was) Dancing on the railroad tracks,
While the sun shines down with a summer’s breeze
Dancing on the railroad tracks, with her hair blown back in the summer’s breeze.

She grew up in a school that was all but the best,
The teacher said, “there’s nothing that we can do”.
She left the town on the last train to take her away
With a smile on her face and her cloths in an old suitcase

(She was) Dancing on the railroad tracks,
While the sun shines down with a summer’s breeze
Dancing on the railroad tracks, with her hair blown back in the summer’s breeze.

She wound up in a club down on 5th avenue,
The owner said, “Baby show me what you can do”
And she danced with a strange beat in her heart
With her eyes to the sky and her mind on the railroad tracks
